LeBron in 2010: New York Knicks?
Posted by Tito in Uncategorized on June 15th, 2009
The rumors that LeBron will be a Knick have been floating around for a while. Speculators and fans alike have been obsessed with the LeBron phenomena and how it could ultimately impact both the Knicks and Cavaliers.
Twitter is on FIRE with Cleveland fans playing tug of war with their franchise trying to sway them to do what it takes to keep their golden child. There’s even a campaign to buy ad space on a high traffic billboard to keep the king in Cleveland (check out @LeBron2010 or LeBron2010.com).
If you’re a Clevelander chances are you’re expecting LeBron to take the money and run. I mean what else would you expect (since all you’re sports teams leave you with little to no promise for the future).
If you’re still not convinced that LeBron and the Knicks should unite just check out what Nike thinks in this puppet commercial. Keep your eyes peeled for the Orange and Blue symbology. Looks like Nike knows what’s up.
It’s The Mailman’s Baby… So what if she was 13 years old!

Retired NBA hall of famer Karl Malone is said to have knocked boots with the mother of brand new Buffalo Bill Demetrius Bell back when Malone was a sophomore at La. Tech. That puts Karl at age 19 or 20 when he did the do with Bell’s (then 13 year old) mom.
Aside from all the statutory concerns the situation is riddled with (although, you have to figure this being the south and also back in the 80’s… it was probably legal to make whoopee with a minor) , Malone never accepted the fact that Demetrius was his kid. Even after paternity tests proved it.
Now Demetrius is NFL bound and surprisingly not bitter (so he says… Read here). I know if it were me, I’d be kicking my dad’s ass right now on some old school Bat Man POW, SLAP, PING, CRACK, POP!

Winning is always exciting… BUT in sports you’re already cutting it close with the butt slap. In this video Rafer Austin’s taking it one step further. I guess if the Italians can do it, why can’t he?

The Toughest road to the NBA

It seems like all the “feel good” stories of how players made it to the pros always has the same plot, twist and happy ending. It starts out with that kid who grew up in those bad ass projects and fought through drug infested neighborhoods everyday to get to school. Then as soon as that school bell rang he was off to practice and then work. From work he went home to study and do chores. Sound familiar?
Have you heard this one? About the kid who got unjustly locked up who was facing a death sentence for being something he wasn’t? Probably not! I introduce you to the wonderful world of L.A. Laker DJ Mbenga (click here)…

Mark Cuban “Hates Bloggers” or is he right?
Posted by Tito Vaselina in sports on March 29th, 2008
Mark Cuban (the very involved owner of the Dallas Mavericks) is engaged in a debate on whether or not Bloggers from newspapers should be granted top tier access to the Mav’s locker room (read his post at BlogMaverick). His feeling is that main media outlets (Beat writers, TV analysts and Video/photographers for majors) should be given the main access, and bloggers (like your boy Vaselina) should be granted (if properly credentialed) second tier access (i.e. access to areas outside of the locker room).
I’m actually fine with this point of view. Us fans, bloggers, etc… want to get as close to the players as we can. This imposes pressure on those that work in the media to do the same. However, we fail to consider THE PLAYERS! Would you want to be bombarded with a TON of interviews after playing a highly competitive game? Now multiply that by 82 games!
I feel like Mr. Cuban’s request to limit blogger access is a good thing. I mean, if I was the owner of a professional sports team I would want my players (especially after a game) to be bothered as little as possible.
We all know the ESPN’s, Major local papers and high impact corners of media are given the access they need, because they are able to market the Mavs much more quickly and with greater reach than your common blog.
Let’s not take ourselves too seriously in thinking we’re right up there with the Stewart Scott’s or Mark Stein’s (of ESPN) when we’re just in our PJ’s writing posts bout what we think is cool, rght, wrong or otherwise.
